Delivered from the factory to the Royal New Zealand Air Force during November 1944, AT-6D / Harvard III had a long and distinguished career until retired in May 1978 with 8,688 Hours Total Time on the airframe. In 1992, an in-depth restoration was undertaken with NZ1099 returning to the skies during 1992. In civilian life, 1099 has accumulated a mere 787 Hours flying time within New Zealand and Australia.
During 2016, the current owner engaged The Old Aeroplane Co, Tyabb Australia to install a fresh ‘0’ Time Covington 1340, along with overhauled accessories. The aircraft is in Annual, regularly flown and represents an authentic example of N.A.A.’s Pilot Maker.
