2002 Ezell Aviation Ezell EJ-1 (Temco TT-1Super Pinto)

History

The EJ-1 aircraft was constructed of miscellaneous parts. A center section wing and fuselage unit were obtained and existing systems removed. The structure was stripped and cleaned. The wing/fuselage unit was inspected and repaired as necessary using AC 43.13 for reference. The unit was then painted, followed by installation of electrical, hydraulic and flight control systems to facilitate operation of the aircraft. Wheels and brakes from a Piper Aerostar were installed. Outer wing panels, wetted for fuel storage, were designed and fabricated from 7075 and 2024 alloy materials.

Tip fuel tanks from a Mitsubishi MU-2 were utilized. A fuel system was installed that transfers fuel from the tips to the wings to the center section from both sides to a single header tank with integral boost pump. A swept vertical stabilizer was fabricated to increase area. Speed brakes were fabricated and installed in the vertical stabilizer. A larger intake system was fabricated and installed to utilized a General Electric J-85-17A powerplant. Operational check of all installed.
